Moving Strings – Splendor

Moving Strings is a collective of musicians, mainly stringed-instrument players, that investigates the boundaries between music, sound, movement and dance.

I already collaborated with them in two projects in the Vogelbuurt, and I had the pleasure to perform again with them in one of the pieces of the concert they organized in Splendor.

Jazz at the Stork Club

Joanie Croes organizes this series of jazz (in a very broad sense) at the Stork Club in Amsterdam. An amazing living room in the middle of the red light district that open its doors for different cultural events. Joanie asked me to present something there, giving me complete freedom.

Together with Oene, Philipp, and Miri, we meet from time to time just to improvise and jam, and I thought it would be a great idea to open this completely free sessions to the an audience. It was a great evening!

With: Oene van Geel (viola), Philipp Rüttgers (synths), Miri Lee (dance).

Here you can watch a short fragment recorded and edited by Kagi.

Wonderland is a great project started by the dancer Makiko Ito with Ellen Knops always very close to it. Its a project where a group of musicians and dancers with Ellen on lights, improvise for and with a group of kids from 0 to 4 years old!

Wonderland is basically a big pool of music and dance improvisers opening a whole world for these children. I’m really glad to be part of it since more than a year ago.

I’ve performed until now with musicians Ada Rave, Bernt Nellen, Laura Lotti, Kristian Martinsson, Jodi Gilbert, Allan Purves, and Marcos Baggiani. And dancers Makiko Ito, Manuela Tessi, , Maria Mavridou, Stephanie Lama, Stefania petroula Raul Germano, and Kim Hoogterp.

Prikkel – AM.OK

One actor, one dancer and 6 musicians performing inside a bubble in the middle of the woods. That was quite an adventure that took us and the bubble to Friesland for the Oranjewoud festival, to Terschelling for Oerol, and finally back to Amsterdam for the Grachtenfestival.

It is a production by Collectief AM.OK, together with the creators of the bubble Plastique Fantastique.

I can’t thank enough to Tijn Wybenga – composer, original idea and keyboards // Uri Eugenio – choreography and dance // Reinier Demeijer – actor // Kika Sprangers – saxophone a music // Geerte de Koe – violin and music // Jelmer de Moed – clarinet and music // Angelo Boltini – sound engineer, music production and live electronics // Karlijn Hemmer – production manager // Daisy Serena Smit – sound assistant // Jonne Kramer – text // Xander Straat – stage director // Alma Sua, Carsten, Daniel and Aline de Jonge – production of the bubble. Yena Young and Marco Canevacci – design and creation of the bubble.
