Pau Sola Quintet – New recording

Thanks to Bimhuis productions, I had the opportunity to compose and record some new material for the project “La selva de los relojes” with the poetry of Federico García Lorca. I hope I can give some more news very soon!

With Björk Níelsdóttir, Marta Warelis, George Dumitriu and George Hadow. And recording with Marc Schots and Ron Ruiten.

Tijn and AMOK New Album

One more adventure with my good friend Tijn Wybenga. As a culmination of what it had to be a tour in the netherlands, we were planning to record a new album with the whole orchestra. The tour wasn’t possible, but fortunately we were able to play 2 concerts for the Grachtenfestival and record for a whole week at the Bimhuis. With, Pablo Rodriguez, Yanna Pelser, George Dumitriu, Pau Sola, Alessandro Fongaro, Teis Semey, Felix Back, Tom Pritchard, Federico Calcagno, Kika Sprangers, Alistair Payne, Odei Al-Magut, Jamie Peet and Angelo Boltini. Recording with Philipp ten Brink

New Generation NTR – Tijn Wybenga

Thanks to Tijn’s Nieuwe Makers fond, I had the opportunity to collaborate with him and his band AMOK in many occasions the last two years.

NTR, a dutch tv channel (I think…) did an episode of New generation with him in dialogue with Martin Fondse. In that episode, we recorded some new tunes by Tijn with the AMOK orchestra.

Here the full concert (starting in a duo by me and Angelo Boltinin on electronics)

And here the episode:

With: Kika Sprangers sax, Alistair Payne trumpet, Federico Calcagno clarinet/bass clarinet, Salvoandrea Lucifora trombone, Luka Batista guitar, Freek Mulder bass, Tom Pritchard vibraphone, Felix Back keys, Margot Kolodziej violin, Pablo Rodriguez violin, Annemarie Hensens viola, Pau Sola cello, Angelo Boltini live electronics, Alex Brajkovic drums, Tijn Wybenga conductor

Liquid Identities at the Bimhuis

Liquid Identities, the band started by Federico Calcagno is getting stronger and more stable. We had the opportunity to perform twice at the Bimhuis during the last months.

The first time was with the Keep an Eye international competition, where Liquid Identities got the second prize. It was a nice evening with beautiful people from all over Europe and US.

The second time was with the cycle Rough Diamonds, a cycle where the Bimhuis gives the opportunity to give a concert to 8 different bands of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Listen here to a fragment of the concert:

With Federico Calcagno on clarinets – José Soares on alto saxophone – Adrian Moncada on piano – Nick Thessalonikefs on drums – and myself on cello.

Tijn Wybenga and AM.OK at the Bimhuis

I was really happy to be part of this Amsterdam Modern Orkest with Tijn. Since the end of the bubble project last August, Tijn started working on a concert with a bigger orkestra that had to be presented at the bimhuis.

It was a great team of international really young players. I’m really glad to be part of them: Tijn Wybenga conductor, Alistair Payne trumpet, Kika Sprangers sax, Odei Al Magut trombon, Federico Calcagno bassclarinet, Andre Lima violin, Pablo Rodriguez violin, George Dumitriu altviolin, Pau Sola cello, Angelo Boltini live electronics, Felix Back synthesizers, Vuma Levin guitar, Allesandro Fongaro contrabass / bassguitar, Alex Brajcovic drums, Ruven Ruppik percussion.

You can listen to the whole live concert in the Bimhuis radio!
