Hadow/Sola at Pintotonics+1

Pintotonics+1 is a great night organized by Raoul van der Weide in Huis de Pinto, a very beautiful old house in the middle of Amsterdam, converted into a cultural place. These nights are always very special, with the combination of one solo and a small ensemble. I already played solo there once, and now it was the turn of our duo with George. Björk Níelsdóttir joined us in one of the songs.

This is what we say about ourselves: Ranging vastly from heavy searing fissure to the most delicate, the duo works very much from a rhythmical standpoint; a twisting, turning discombobulation to a breezing zephyr and back again.

Pintotonics n+ 1 – Solo

It was the 11th of December of 2017 in Amsterdam. It snowed what for me was a huge snow storm (I’m from Barcelona), later I learned that it was kind of normal, but anyway, it was strong enough to stop trains and public transport in the whole Netherlands.

One of the sets had to be performed by Nicolas Chientarolli Trio, who couldn’t make it himself, and it became a duo by Ab Baars, and Ono Govaert. Michael Scheen had to perform a solo set, who couldn’t make it either, so I was offered to play a solo at Pintotonics that same day.

Pintotonics n+1 is a great series of improvised concerts organized by Raoul van der Weide in an old house in the center of Amsterdam, Huis de Pinto. It always presents a solo and a group set, and the concert is always accompanied by a great quote from Misha Mengelberg.

Muziek bestaat niet. Het is hooguit een illusie. – Misha Mengelberg

Music doesn’t exist. At most, it’s an illusion. That night I performed two pieces. Basically, concepts that I use to improvise: “On the body” and “On movement”.
